Brazil leads telephone spam ranking in Latin America; a third of consumers do not know the value of the card's invoice and other news


Brazil leads the ranking of telephone calls classified as "spam" in Latin America. According to a survey based on data from the Truecaller application, the Brazilian receives an average of 37.5 unwanted calls per month - representing an increase of 81% over the cases recorded last year. The main telephone spammers in the country are the telephony operators, with 33% of the total volume, and the collection companies with 24%. With another 21%, links also appear classified as "annoying", like pranks or blows on false kidnappings. The top Latin American ranking is completed by Chile, with an average of 21.9 monthly calls per user and Mexico with 20.9.

One-third of consumers do not know credit card bill amounts. This is indicated by a new survey of the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) and the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil). Among those who remember the value of the invoice, the average cost was 882 reais. Despite the lack of knowledge, 74% were able to pay the bill in full. Considering only classes C and D, however, the percentage drops to 64%. The survey also found that 40% of consumers used some form of credit in August. The most frequent was the credit card (35%), followed by credit (9%), limit of the overdraft (7%) and loans (6%).
